General Information

     The 16th International Choir Festival of Karpenissi and the 10th International Choir Competition “Antonio Vivaldi” are part of a long-lived cultural course in the field of choir music. These events have rendered the holding place of the Festival, the city of Karpenissi, a pole of attraction, culture and tourism as more than 500 to 1000 friends of the choir art (conductors, choir members, orchestra musicians, escorts, etc) visit the city of Karpenissi. The International Choir Festival of Karpenissi and the International Choir Competition “Antonio Vivaldi” have been estamblished since 1988 by the Musical Cultural Association Choir of Karpenissi “Antonio Vivaldi”, with Professor George Xenakis playing the role of the artistic director and the president of the organizing com­mittee as well. For the last few years, the Choir events are held in collaboration with the Municipality of Karpenissi. The next choir event will be held between June 27 and June the 30rd of 2013.

     The 16th International Choir Festival of Karpenissi and the 10th International Choir Competition "Antonio Vivaldi" will be held between June 28 and July the 1st of 2012, in Karpenissi - Greece. The participation in Choir Competition "œAntonio Vivaldi" is not obligatory for the choirs that choose only to participate in the Choir Festival of Karpenissi. In addition, the choirs that intend to participate to the Choir Competition are not required to perform obligatory works. The organizing Committee of the Festival and the Competition in collaboration with local hotels and restaurants, provide luxurius yet economic accommodation packages, that include breakfast, lunch and dinner, either in 2 star or a 5 star hotel during the Festival.       For a second year in a row, the committee of the festival in collaboration with the "Aprilov - Palaouzov" Community Centre of Gabrovo, is organizing the 2nd International Choir Festival of Gabrovo and the 2nd International Choir Competition "Antonio Vivaldi", in Gabrovo - Bulgaria.       The city of Karpenissi is located at an altitude of 960 meters above the sea level and is the capital of the municipality of Evrytania. It is located at the geographical center of Greece and is 292 km far away from the capital of Greece, Athens and about 400 km away from Thessaloniki.
